Our Place Featured on CBS Channel 2 WBBM
April 2012 -- Our Place was featured on CBS Channel 2 WBBM as part of Harry Porterfield’s segment "Someone you should know."
The feature focused on how a group of parents formed to meet a real need in the community. Prior to the creation of Our Place, there were no programs in the area for young adults with developmental disabilities on turning 22 and leaving the school system.
Our Place now serves teens and adults and currently provides services to around 50 participants. Our mission is to support these young adults so they can live meaningful productive lives in their home community.
Jane Gallery, our Board President, was featured in the CBS segment and said “I’m so amazed at the way everybody has come together, parents and staff. This community that we have built within our larger community has made a difference in so many lives. I feel very proud, very grateful.”
