Save the Date for Our Place - Village Board Meeting August 28th 7:30PM
Say YES to Our Place

On August 28th, Our Place goes before the Village Board of Wilmette seeking approval to continue operating in our church location.

Village Board Meeting, Tuesday, August 28 7:30PM.
Village Hall, 1200 Wilmette Avenue, Wilmette 2FL

PLEASE COME! You made the difference at the July Zoning Board hearing.   We need the Village Board to know that there is significant support in the community for Our Place in its current location.

Please come and wear a BLUE SHIRT to show solidarity and support inclusion in our community.

If you have any questions or would like to support this effort further, please contact Lisa D'Angelo at or 847-512-4661. We want to show the Village Board that Wilmette welcomes everyone, including those with developmental disabilities.  Thank you!

Our Place Mission
Supporting teens and adults with developmental disabilities so that they can live meaningful, productive, socially connected lives in their home community.

How We Do It

Our Place targets personal growth through skills development and immersion in community life so that participants can be full members of their community. We provide intensive relationships with staff, peers, mentors and community volunteers as this is the most effective way to attain personal objectives. Activities address the components of a rich life: work, socializing, volunteer service and lifelong learning. We offer more than 40 distinct programs, with 70% in community settings.

We call our teens and adults participants because they are fully engaged in designing their days, choosing how they spend their time, setting their goals and connecting with the people they like. We think of our staff members as life coaches, assisting participants in setting and attaining their goals.
